Leeds es una ciudad universitaria pero con pocos lugares para alojar a sus estudiantes. Es por ello que el fin de este proyecto es crear una Residencia para investigadores en un solar frente al río y con acceso desde dos calles; la del paseo y la trasera que se encuentra a 4 metros de desnivel. El programa es muy sencillo; habitaciones para los investigadores y lugares de estudio, de trabajos en grupo así como de ocio y comida: cocina, comedor, salón, gimnasio y lo necesario para la residencia como la lavanderia y cuartos de limpieza. El reto del proyecto es que sea un edificio de construcción seca (madera y acero en este caso), siendo la idea principal del proyecto crear un espacio diáfano en las plantas bajas y espacios más públicos colgando todo el programa más privado de la cubierta. Además el núcleo de comunicación se encuentra en un patio que da luz y acceso a todas las plantas.
Leeds is a university town, but there are not so many residences or places where the students can live. This is the main reason of this project; creating a College residence for researchers located in front of the river and with acces in both streets within a slope of 4 metres. The programme is very simple: rooms for this researchers as well as study rooms and rooms for workgroups. In addition there are places for eat and fun like the kitchens, dinning rooms, living rooms, gym and the wet rooms such as laundry and cleaning room The challenge of this project is that it should be a dry construction building, being the main idea of the project to hang the private spaces from the wood roof getting diaphanous spaces in the bottom floors. The communication area is inside one big patio that brinngs light and acces to every floor.
